Side pain is better - not hungry at all
The Ibuprophen is helping me with the side pain, thank goodness. I was about out of my mind. I even got on the Eliptical the last two days!
Does hunger come back? I am so NOT hungry I have to force myself to eat (unlike the old days when I'd forget I'd eaten and eat again) Honestly I'd rather not eat at all then to figure out what looks the least unappetizing, but I'm making myself do it. Still trying to have 2 protein shakes a day. Mid morning an egg and a thin piece of ham seems to be ok, but other than than....... not so much.
I don't know why, but it's bothering me. I don't want to be starving hungry, but I'd like a little interest in food. I kind of miss it.
Can you tell me if you started out like this and if and when it changed? Thanks!
Tess

I go in spurts. I definitely had a week or two where I wasn't hungry at all! I still have days where just getting in my vitamins or drinking my water fills me up, so thinking of getting in some food seems impossible. Then, on the other hand, I'll have days where getting in food is no problem. So I think we're still early out...in that 'honeymoon phase' as it's called, where we may not feel hungry that often. From what people tell me that are farther out, most times the hunger starts to come back, but not like before. For some the hunger doesn't really come back, but for most it comes back a bit. I know, it can be a little frustrating to have no real appetite but you know you have to eat something so you go to the fridge or your cupboards & you stand there & stare trying to figure out what looks the least unappetizing...what you could most possibly stomach for that meal. It can be tough. Hopefully you'll get a little more of your appetite back soon.
I'm so glad your left sided pain is going away! That's GREAT news!!!

I am so glad your pain is getting better! I know my cough is finally getting better and it's a relief.
I am never hungry, that doesn't mean I don't want something. But when I think about, it's not hunger. I have gotten into a routine. 7am breakfast, noonish lunch, 6ish dinner. I eat and it tastes good its all about the flavor. I had a few things already made up an in the fridge so all I have to do is pull it out and warm it up. If I had to think about what to fix each night, I’d probably just have eggs. Though I have to admit last night hubby popped popcorn and it smelled sooooooooooooo good. I wanted some sooo badly but I was a good girl and drank my protein shake and I was fine.
I really hope I’m one of the lucky few that never gets my hungry feeling back.
I'm 5 weeks out and probably have only been "hungary" 3 times. I just eat cuz I know I have to.
I dont really mind not feeling hungary, but it is getting harder to find something that looks/sounds good. Looking forward to moving into step 4 diet.
I went to the movie theatre the other day...the popcorn smelled SOOOO good...when my granddaughter was finished with her popcorn, I of course had to hold it... so I couldnt resist totally, so what I did was suck on a few pieces (LOL) just gave me that awww feeling...and I ate a couple of the real big soft heads. but that satisfied the craving/memory of popcorn for me. I'm sure if anyone was watching me suck on them and spit them out they probably thought I was the weirdest person out there. LOL

Tess,
YAY on the side pain getting better!
I very rarely feel hungry and when I do I think it's odd because it happens so infrequently. I've developed some stand-bys for those days when I just don't WANT to eat because I get so tired of having to figure out something and then I eat them because I have to, not because I want to.
I have made up individual size containers of cottage cheese (I bought the small tupperware containers and measured out the amt I can eat and then when I need to eat and I don't know what I want I grab one of those...also, makes for a great add to my lunches or whatever)
I've measured out single servings of Peanut Butter and I use this on various different things or eat it by itself...it all depends on my mood and what I have planned for the day/evening
I have also bought the ham and turkey cubes and cubes of mozerella and make up little baggies for me to grab on the go or if I just can't think of something. Makes it so much easier for me to have the "convenience" foods that I was used to from before, they are just healthier choices and I make sure they have protien in them. (Side Note-the Ham and Turkey cubes taste GREAT on a $1.00 side salad from McDonalds)

All really good ideas guys, thank you!
My problem is that nothing tastes good. It may for the 1st two bites, but then it's like my system has some weird warning and I suddenly turns me off. Or I can't bare to think of eatting at all. Like right now. I'm going to try and eat some chicken veg soup. So we'll see how it goes.
I wouldn't mind the not being hungry, if foods tasted ok when I ate them. It's this revulsion that has me bummed. I thought I'd pay $1million for this, but I wouldn't. I just want things to taste ok and to enjoy something I ate.
But it's early days, I'm not quite 4 wks out. I'm hoping it will pass. Then knowing me, I'll ***** about being hungry! Have a great weekend. I doubt I'll make coffee if the roads are really icy. Too far to have to white knuckle it!

I did not feel hunger until 6 months post op almost to the day of my surgery.... I called my nutritionist becase I honestly, did not know what to eat.!!! LOL
It is common not to be hungry forthe first few months. This is your honeymoon period- enjoy it.
You will mourn food, but when your hunger returns is when the true challenges of this journey will begin. Good luck!

Glad you're feeling better, Tess. Regarding the hunger issue . . .been there, done that. Do try to eat a few more smaller meals for now just so you get something in you. I know I can do days without eating so have to "make it happen" or I get queasy just from the vits and minerals. I was lucky to be able to go to pretty much normal foods after a week, and found what tasted OK and what didn't. Now at 7 months out, I find I can eat a candy bar. What the hell is wrong with that picture?? Time to up the protein for both of us. You can do it!

Holy smokes! 6 months Lynn Marie! Were you not hungry and/or nothing tasted very good? Yikes!
Tuna! A candy bar! I have to admit I laughed I'm trying to add unflavored protein to yogurt etc. I did better today. I also did 25 minutes on the Eliptical today too, so I am feeling accomplished.
My weight has stuck at the same # since Monday! I know it will move again, especially since I have barely eaten! But I've dropped a pants size and a bra size. I'm losing from the top down and the bottom up. Now if my belly and butt would get with the program!
Thanks for stopping in gals I appreciate it and wish you continued success. You'll still be around when I start complaining that I'm eating too much?
